I love these bindings, from the minor adjustments you can make to art work on the bindings. I like how solid these feel no matter what type of terrain I'm riding. I really like the medium stiffness of the bindings as I like to feel really stable/really in control of my board when I am riding and these really help with that.
These bindings are light and reliable. Straps are uber comfy and don’t allow much boot wiggle, if any. Very secure ride with easy turn initiation thanks to the drive plates! Big fan of the axtion here.
You can definitely tell there are some engineers within the Mervin team. It starts with the packaging. I am not going into details, but in comparison to other binding companies I have used, you can tell there was some good thought but into it. The bindings are super lite weight. I personally like a uni-body binding. It's simple and there are less parts. As an engineer myself, the KISS method is most preferred. I ride a size large, what's nice is that the these are great for travel and storage considering the highback sits in line with the foot bed when it is collapsed. All of these are great things! Now onto things I think that need to be revised.... - The toe strap: I believe that the surface area should be increased. The reason for this is that I has issues with the strap slipping on occasion. - Buckles: I've never really analyzed buckle construction on my various bindings. These do not slip however, the tow buckle doesn't seem firm. As I am riding I can hear it rattle. This doesn't effect the current performance. Just something I've noticed. - THE DRIVE PLATE IS SICK. I've noticed in comparison to my other bindings, the drive plate traps moisture between the board and the plate itself. I always store my boards inside my bedroom closet with DAMP RID and I noticed after a few days when I took my bindings off to repair my board, there was still quite a bit of moisture. These are just things I've noticed. The Axtions are great bindings and I would definitely recommend them to others! P.S.Is Mervin looking for engineers.....asking for a friend. Cheers!
